Integration into Education
Imagine what could be available to you in terms of images if you and your students (or even your teaching colleagues) posted images to Flickr!
- If you were teaching microbiology and had the ability to capture images of cells under the microscope you could use these photos in the classroom or you could use them in an assessment.
- If you were teaching architecture you could send your students on a photo field trip and use the images to discuss architecture in Saint John.
- If you were teaching community nursing and your students were around the province on practicums, they could post photos on how their placement site (e.g. daycare centre or classroom was set up.
- The same goes for field trips, student projects, class events and guest presentations.
Watch the video and then go to flickr to create your account. If you do not have a Yahoo account you will need to do this as well. Remember to keep track of your username and password!
Activity #2: Uploading photos
Watch the video on uploading photos and then get to work and upload at least five images in flickr.
Please add the tag DUT2010 to your photos and mark them public. In this way when you search the tag DUT2010, you will be able to find the photos of your colleagues in Your Web, Your Way. You must upload at least five photos and tag them for this search to work.
Activity #3: Tell us about your experience
In your blog reflect on this activity. You might talk about
- setting up your account
- how you choose the photos to upload
- types of tags you could use
- ways you could use photos in your teaching
- what you found interesting about this activity
- or anything else that comes to mind
